Raymarine helps to track competitors in the Around Alone 2002-2003 race with RayTech software

Raymarine, a company that designs and manufactures world leading electronic equipment for recreational boating and light commercial marine markets, has customised its RayTech 4.1 software to enable fast tracking and plotting of the Around Alone fleet.
Anyone wishing to follow the competitors in the Around Alone race, billed as the toughest and longest race on earth, can download the software from http://www.aroundalone.com/apps/raceviewer/Position at the top of the position chart page link www.raymarine.com/raymarine/raytechRBT/). This provides a special application to automatically upload the RayTech Boat Tracking (RBT) data, which enables a quick and simple process to deliver the positions from the poll taken on board to the web.
Once the RayTech software has been installed on the PC users can overlay and animate weather maps, enabling them to see the same information that the skippers are seeing, in real time onboard.
The positions page on the Around Alone site now offers a larger, clearer image from the RayTech map with the overall fleet positions and tracks; a table for both classes with the relevant performance data; and a clear link to a 'zoomed in' image of the individual class position map with current weather barbs overlayed.
Leg 3 of the Around Alone race from Cape Town to New Zealand is due to start tomorrow at 12 noon. The Southern Ocean leg, a notoriously gruelling one lies ahead for the 11 men and 1 woman taking part in this race.
Skippers and shore crews have been busy making final preparations prior to the start. Raymarine, partner sponsors of the race has developed its RayTech software system as the Race Management System for Clipper Ventures plc, the organisers of the Around Alone race. This will ensure the race management can track every competitor during all stages of the race.
