WHERE'S ALAN?

Latest update: This morning at 10:00 local time Alan Paris was 30 miles from Cape Reinga on the northern tip of New Zealand. In a satellite call he said he expected to round the cape at 13:00 local time. If the forecast holds the ETA for BTC Velocity arriving in Tauranga is late in the day on Wednesday.
Original story: This morning (Sunday) at 09:00 local time Alan Paris on BTC Velocity was sailing towards Cape Reinga at 8 knots. In a brief satellite call Alan said all was well on board, the conditions were excellent and he had made good speed sailing across the Tasman Sea. He was 211 miles from Cape Reinga on the northern tip of New Zealand and was expecting to round the cape during the day tomorrow.
For those that have been following the progress of the boats on the positions page, I apologize for the positions not being updated on a daily basis. Race Operations in the UK are taking a well deserved break until a few days before the restart. They have been manning the office 24-hours a day since the race started in September, and since there is still a long way to go yet, we felt that it was important that they get a bit of a break. The responsibility of updating the positions page has fallen to me and I am having software problems (I use a Mac and the software only works on a PC is one of the problems). Please be sure that we have not forgotten Alan. We are in touch with his a few times a day and we have the emergency phones in case of a problem. I will continue to update his progress on the front page until I can get the software issue sorted. Many thanks of your patience.
