Franck Yves Escoffier winnner of the Class 2 multis
At 23 :44 :42 Franck-Yves Escoffier glides across the finish line reiterating his exploit in 1998 : to win in his category in the Route du Rhum. The skipper of Crêpes Whaou ! had a fantastic race which lasted 16 days, 11 hours, 9 minutes and 42 seconds at an average speed of 8.99 knots orthodromy.
Franck-Yves Escoffier has fulfilled his contract : winning the Route du Rhum for a second time aboard his trusty 50 foot trimaran which he has owned since the last edition.
Victim of automatic pilot problems seven days before the finish, this victory was far from smooth, Franck Yves being forced to spend numerous hours at the helm to advance his boat along. He arrived this evening in Guadeloupe exhausted.
