IN DETAIL:
Come and hear about the new double-handed Barcelona World Race in the presence of solo world record holder, Ellen MacAthur and Hugo Boss Open 60 skipper Alex Thomson, who at the end of last year was dramatically rescued from the Southern Ocean. Thomson was one of the first skippers to sign-up for the new non-stop round the world race starting on 11th November 2007 from Barcelona, and has signed up Volvo Ocean Race navigator, Andrew Cape as his co-skipper. The new race is being organised by OC Events, part of MacArthur's OC Group, and the Fundació Navegació Oceànica.
Racing 25,000 miles over three months across the planet's most hostile and challenging oceans, this race will see the best sailors from the world of solo and crewed disciplines, competing against each other in teams of two. The Barcelona World Race is part of the official IMOCA Open 60 World championship circuit.
