Barcelona World Race 2007 www.barcelonaworldrace.com - Übersicht 20.11.2007 Day 10: Estrella Damm cruises through gate two of the Barcelona World Race After 10 days at sea, Estrella Damm has ticked off another milestone in the Barcelona World Race, crossing through the second gate just off the Canary Islands in sixth place at 01:25 GMT this morning, only a minute ahead of seventh place Tenemos II. The Tenemos/ Estrella Damm pair have been neck and neck for the majority of the race so far, with Tenemos getting the better of skippers Guillermo Altadill and Jonathan McKee today, passing them to take a one mile lead as they search for the trade winds just south of the Canary Islands, along the African coast. However, Estrella Damm reindexs in sixth overall as Veolia Environment dropped two places into seventh. Veolia Environment trails Estrella Damm by only 11 miles and reindexs a threat to the Spanish boat. © Jordi Andreu, Estrella Damm Sailing Team The fight for fifth/sixth place between Estrella Damm and Tenemos II will continue overnight with the boats matching their average boat speed at 8.9 knots at the 16:00 GMT position report. The forecast for the trade winds looks hopeful although Estrella Damm may have to suffer from further light winds before she can stretch her legs. South of the Canary Islands, a new area of light wind is ready to greet the boat if she heads in this direction. Estrella Damm will need to cross it before finally finding the trade winds that are moving in WSW flow decreasing for most of today, before gradually turning into the North sector in the ridge before reinforcing in front of Cap Blanc.
