Final Day Video Advisory - Team Aqua hangs on in last race nailbiter
A last minute charge from Vladimir Liubomirov's Bronenosec Sailing Team was not enough to displace Chris Bake's Team Aqua from the top of the leaderboard at the conclusion of the RC44 Bermuda Cup, the first event of the one design monohull's 10th season of racing.
Conditions on the final day of competition on Bermuda's Great Sound, looked marginal with a near glass out mid-morning. After a postponement ashore, the first warning signal finally came at 1410 and PRO Peter Reggio just managed to hold two races in a tricky breeze that rarely exceeded five knots.
A disappointing penultimate day of racing saw Bronenosec Sailing Team drop off the leaderboard, but today in the light conditions the Russian team's tactician Michele Ivaldi seemed to have a direct line to the wind gods with the blue-hulled RC44 claiming today's two races. This was enough for Bronenosec Sailing Team to finish the regatta second, two points behind Team Aqua and three ahead of her arch-rival Team Nika.
The RC44s now leave the 35th America's Cup venue bound for the RC44 Sotogrande World Championship in May.

With four races sailed on day one of fleet racing in Bermuda Team Aqua never dropped off the podium. Scoring 2-3-1-3 saw her return to the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club leading, two points clear of Vladimir Liubomirov's Bronenosec Sailing Team.

On day one of the RC44 Bermuda Cup, there was sun, flat water and around 20 knots of wind, gusting into the high 20s by the close of play on Bermuda's Great Sound.
