The boat will be called ‘Longtze’, meaning son of the dragon. The christening ceremony took place at the China Team base in Port America’s Cup, and featured the presence of Mayor of Valencia, Rita Barberá, Mr. Qiu Xiaoqi, the Chinese Ambassador from Madrid, and Wang Chaoyong, the President of the team, along with some 300 invited guests, sponsors and supporters. Launch the video ‘Longtze’ was christened by Xin Li, the Chinese model and actress, who has been an ambassador for the team since its creation. Breaking with tradition, she smashed a bottle of whisky over the bow, in honour of a team sponsor. Team President Wang Chaoyong said the christening represented a “new historical event in the development in Chinese sailing. It is not only the first America's Cup Class boat to be ‘made in China’ but also a perfect combination between courage, passion, technology, innovation and team spirit.
