Boris Herrmann peilt neues Abenteuer mit Weltrekord auf Nordostpassage an
Seit sechs Jahren erst wird die Nordostpassage wieder vereinzelt von Handelsschiffen durchfahren. 2002 bezwang der Abenteurer Arved Fuchs die vereiste Route durchs Nordpolarmeer im dritten Anlauf mit der „Dagmar Aaen“. Aber noch niemals ist jemand nonstop allein unter Segeln von Murmansk die Arktis entlang bis zur Beringstraße durchgekommen. Genau das will der Hamburger Boris Herrmann nun schaffen. Dazu hat der zweimalige Weltumsegler als Navigator beim chinesischen Skipper Guo Chuan auf dessen 30-Meter-Trimaran „Qingdao China“ angeheuert. Der Startschuss zur etwa 2.800 Seemeilen langen Strecke (mehr als 5.000 Kilometer) voller Ungewissheiten fällt für die sechsköpfige, internationale Crew am Donnerstag, dem 3. September. Das Team rechnet für die „maritime Erstbesteigung“ mit einer Dauer von knapp zwei Wochen.

Two round the world voyages and three roundings of Cape Horn: Boris Herrmann certainly knows the world’s oceans. He has just sailed through the North East passage aboard the former IDEC now in the hands of the Chinese sailor, Guo Chuan. In 2009, he became the first German to win a round the world race: the Global Ocean Race. He too is a strong all-rounder on everything from small monohulls to giant multihulls, with a lot of experience of the hostile Southern Ocean. He is German, but a Swiss army knife that can do anything. Boris Herrmann : “For my third round the world voyage, I’m pleased to be going aboard this boat aboard which I have already sailed this year. Our motivation is very clear: we are setting off to smash the record ! As for the adventure aspect, that is a bonus, but the competition comes first.…”
