Record Setting Scalloper Endurance at Dennis Conner's North Cove
Gastyachten 2014 in North Cove Harbor
Greetings from Dennis Conner's North Cove. It has been a winter to remember in the Big Apple. Although it is a month or more until the first mega yachts arrive, we still have visitors this time of year.
The record breaking scalloper, F/V Endurance, pulled in to Dennis Conner's North Cove yesterday evening and tied up along the north seawall.
So what is a scalloper doing at North Cove? Well there is a gale blowing out in the Atlantic Ocean. And not just any gale, waves are expected to reach 38 feet! Endurance has been dragging for scallops off the New Jersey coast and needed a safe harbor to ride out the storm.
So, knowing that Dennis Conner, the Patron of North Cove, is a seafood afficiando (in addition to America's Greatest Sailor), the captain of Endurance asked is he could tie up at North Cove and tip the staff with fresh scallops right off the boat.
At North Cove, we are always happy to provide a safe harbor for yachts. And because of the surrounding skyscrapers, yachts inside the marina are protected from much of the wind during storms. So we were very happy to accommodate this record breaking fishing vessel. She is painted in vibrant red color and great to look at!

Best wishes to all of our yachting friends and we look forward to catching your lines at Dennis Conner's North Cove this summer.
